What Is a Russia eVisa?

A Russian eVisa is an official online entry permit that allows eligible foreign nationals to enter the Russian Federation for a variety of short-term purposes. The entire application is completed online, without visiting a consulate or visa centre.

An eVisa to Russia allows a single entry for:

  • Tourism and leisure

  • Business visits (meetings, negotiations, exhibitions)

  • Humanitarian trips (cultural, scientific, sports events)

  • Private visits to friends or relatives

Key Features of the Russian eVisa

  • Validity period: 120 days from the date of issue

  • Permitted stay: Up to 30 days from the moment of entry

  • Number of entries: Single entry only

  • Extensions: Not available, except in rare emergency situations

The eVisa is issued electronically in PDF format and must be shown at check-in and at the border.

Who Can Apply for a Russia eVisa?

Citizens of 64 eligible countries can apply for a Russian eVisa, including most EU states, China, India, Japan, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and others.

Important Information for Citizens of the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand

These countries are not eligible for the Russian eVisa.
Nationals of these states must apply for a standard visa instead.

However, if you hold dual citizenship and have a passport from an eligible country (e.g., an EU state), you can apply for the Russian eVisa using that passport.

How to Apply for a Russia eVisa?

Application Process

  • The application is completed entirely online through the official website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

  • After approval, the eVisa is issued as a PDF document, which you must print or save on your device.

  • This PDF must be shown when boarding your flight and at Russian border control.

Processing Time

  • Standard processing takes up to 4 calendar days.

When to Apply

To avoid delays and to make sure your visa is valid for your travel dates, it is recommended to apply 1–2 months before your trip.
