French Schengen - visa application

A successful France Schengen visa application depends on a complete and accurate set of documents. This official checklist covers everything you need to prepare for your French tourist visa.

Core Mandatory Documents:

  1. Visa Application Form

    • One fully completed and signed France Schengen visa application form. It must be filled out online or printed legibly.

  2. Valid Passport

    • Issued within the last 10 years.

    • Valid for at least three months beyond your intended departure date from the Schengen Area.

    • At least two blank pages for the visa sticker.

  3. Passport Photos

    • Two identical, recent (within the last 3 months) color photos.

    • They must meet the official Schengen visa photo requirements (neutral background, no glasses, 35x45 mm size).

  4. Proof of Travel Medical Insurance

    • Coverage for the entire Schengen Area.

    • Minimum coverage of €30,000 for medical emergencies, hospitalization, and repatriation.

Proof of Travel & Accommodation:

  1. Flight Reservation

    • A confirmed round-trip flight itinerary for visa application. Important: Do not buy tickets before getting the visa. A reservation is sufficient.

  2. Accommodation Proof

    • Hotel bookings for your entire stay, or

    • A formal invitation from a host in France ("Attestation d'Accueil") obtained from their local town hall.

  3. Travel Itinerary

    • A brief day-by-day plan of your trip in France.

Proof of Financial Means & Socio-Economic Status:

  1. Bank Statements

    • Personal bank statements for the last 3-6 months, showing regular income and sufficient funds to cover your stay.

  2. Proof of Employment

    • If Employed: Employment contract and a signed leave letter from your employer.

    • If Self-Employed: Business registration certificate or company bank statements.

    • If Student: Proof of enrollment and a no-objection letter from your university.

  3. Cover Letter

    • A personal letter explaining the purpose of your visit, your travel plans, and how you will finance the trip.

A Final Word on Refusals

Many French Schengen visa applications are refused for avoidable reasons: insufficient financial proof, inconsistent travel itinerary, or incorrect application forms. Navigating the requirements can feel like trying to "catch an elephant with your bare hands" – it seems almost impossible without the right tools and expertise. Even a small mistake can lead to a rejection and loss of your visa fee.

Why risk it? Our visa agency specializes in turning complex applications into successful approvals. We know exactly what the consulate looks for and will ensure your application is perfect from start to finish.
